CRPS, a debilitating chronic pain condition, formerly known as RSDS, was also known many years ago as the "Suicide Disease".
It was called this because of the number of patients who took their life. This was mainly because of the amount of pain these people are in and it was so difficult to get diagnosed, physicians didn't believe their pain was real, and in the end very little relief was offered and patients suffered far greater and longer and in much greater silence than they do today.
Thankfully the number of suicides that take the lives of CRPS patients is a much, much less compared to even ten years ago. This is due in large part to the thousands of volunteers all over the country who worked and continue to work raising awareness of this disease in not only the medical community but also throughout the general public as well.
I want to make it our mission to continue that awareness.
Below we are sharing information to a benefit we are having to offset the cost of teaching Jake to use his limb through the pain, and to raise his pain tolerance to a point that normal things actually feel mostly normal again.

On June 15th of 2016, Jacob was playing frisbee with friends on the Boardwalk at Beaver Island State Park, where he stepped on a board with some loose wood and nails. We try to give regular updates here at this facebook group!
